The Skinny on the No-Show
My rant Friday night was regarding being stood up by my out-of-state date. I called him around 9:30 p.m. (remember, he said he’d leave no later than 7 p.m.) and woke him up. He said that he had decided to sleep rather than leave town. I asked when he was planning to let me know that tidbit of information. He said that he planned to call when he woke up. He said that he would sleep for a bit longer and would leave around midnight, which would put him in my town around 7 a.m. I called him when I got up around 6 this morning and he was just barely leaving town.
Do you ever get the impression that they just aren’t properly thrilled to see you?
I believe that we teach people how to treat us, and obviously I’ve taught him that this sort of behavior is acceptable. I would hate for my kids to grow up thinking that it’s okay to treat others with such inconsideration or, just as bad, that they grow up expecting to be treated this way.
Make sense?
I challenge you to teach people to treat you well. Your kids will thank you for it later!
