Dress for Success
As single parents, we often have an extra burden of financial difficulties to follow us. Have you searched for jobs and landed an interview only to find that you have nothing to wear to the interview? Worse, you can’t afford to purchase a new suit?
There is an organization called Dress for Success that helps financially less privileged women by contributing an interview suit to her so she can land a better job. It doesn’t specifiy single women or single mothers, but like I said: We are more likely to be financially strapped than others.
Snipped from their site:
Since 1997, Dress for Success has served almost 300,000 women around the world. Each year we reach more than 40,000 women in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. All Dress for Success organizations are not-for-profit entities, with Dress for Success Worldwide and its U.S. affiliates having 501(c)(3) charitable status.
Dress for Success serves clients by referral only, and women must have an interview scheduled before receiving clothing. Our clients come to us from a continually expanding and diverse group of non-profit and government agencies including homeless shelters, immigration services, job training programs, educational institutions and domestic violence shelters, among many other organizations. More than 2,500 organizations throughout the world send women to Dress for Success for professional apparel and career development services.
